I am such a Fruitcake!

Sthembiso Mngadi  co-owner of  Fruitcake Vintage, A man who defines the meaning of breaking barriers of conformity and one who understands how to apply the pure energy of creativity into clothing . And by the Gods of the universe he managed to squeeze us in on his schedule to let us in on his experience in the fashion industry as well as being an entrepreneur and what challenges they had to go through.

fruitcake was a concept which flourished into an official business , Sthe' started selling clothing from home, where he would place up a rail and at the same time dish up some delicious and appealing food - smarting strategy if you ask me. From then he started a clothing brand which interestingly is called June 12 (he didn't want to be called a designer) I am still going to call one though, after not being able to study fashion at university. Sounds almost like my own path in life (giggles), however my humble mentor went on to tell us about his experience as an entrepreneur during the economical difficulties over the past years, among many other things the biggest was location and funds when they were starting up which he stated that they would have loved to do a full blast advertising for the store. but even after all those years today, its one of the most impressive thrift stores in South Africa. 5 years and counting, their clothing still remains, sophisticated, funky and fresh. feel like popping in check it out.
