Jake Singer

I believe in those who produce extraordinary work, This particular individual  has given me a reason to believe in what he does.. But before we get to that I decided to re-book for my learners license, and while I prepared myself to go and do this (I left in a hurry) got on a cab vroooom off I went. Now I'm in the middle of town wondering whether I'll make it back home in time to watch Disney Junior [Don't Judge Me] Get to the department and realise I forgot my ID. And then I get told..

But anyway, the mind of this gifted individual has produced a new category or rather has given birth to a new era of art with the blend of work from every period in the existence of art as a whole, which I will now call the Njord era [a scandinavian God from the Norse mythology] that's  history for you.

Jake Singer who is in his 20's comes from an extremely artistic background that was nurtured during his high school years, however diverted from this to focus on photography [fashion photography] then later when back to his artistic ways and applied the photography to his work. Among many influences music of all genres also played a part in all of this, as we sat in the gallery and listened to Jake explain to me as to how the pictures and sculptures he made came to being he explained to me what difficulties he faced as an art student one being how a lecturer didn't like the work he did [obviously the lecturer didn't know squat]to which I asked him to share his view of the direction that South African art is taking and then explained how [to a certain extent]is being limited because "..we are told what to paint, which angle to take a picture from.." which limits your work because it is the view the world has of South Africa and how that's how international collectors of art perceive the country to be.

I would say that's what restricts our growth within the country the image we uphold of ourselves - I would've said as a creative but he hates being called that [giggles] I understand. The gentleman is currently exhibiting his work internationally and only greater things could be expected...Oh and he doesn't hate All-stars [giggles].
