Problem Addict

By Coco

I'm a big fan of mainstream and old skool rap, It is probably the purest form of Hip Hop and by purest I mean it had a message an influence that can not be compared to.

"Success doesn't come over night''.

Addict [from Full Blast] is a mainstream rapper from Mpumalanga [Naas], Working at Nedbank with a vision and almost no money in his pockets - packed his bags and heads east with the word of God [his music] for the youth of Gauteng.

His journey began with Tv appearances which only seemed right 'cause he was inspired by Tv shows of the of the 90's mainly music videos by A Tribe Called Quest, KRS One. He made Tv appearances on shows like Zabalaza (which was he's first appearance ever) Generations, Ashes to Ashes and Rhythm City.

Nice.

Back to the future, apart from the lack of payment that gigs were giving the brother managed to push his music to higher platform namely Gwalagwala FM.

However like any other journey, the road always gets a little steep..

"People tend to act funny..one friend to let me sleep over for a job interview..I ended up sleeping on the staircase outside the night before the interview.''

This was done of love for his dream, doing jobs to support his vision

Speaking about that, A true leader shares the views and concerns of his/her followers and so he out of that experience.

And the leader said 'I speak wat I feel' and Mpumalanga honoured his words.

(I speak wat I feel is a single from one his tape Hunger for success vol. 2)
a song which symbolises the common cry of our nation - the hardships of working at a 9 to 5
and the oppression you face in the workplace.

I asked him what he thinks South Africa's music industry is lacking in?

''It lacks in unity (featuring of unsigned artists by celebrated artists) or gatekeepers.''

But amongst other things he has shared the stage with artist's like Pro, Slikour and kwesta.

He is currently working on Hunger for success vol. 3 and in production with Fox K Koketso Multimedia productions as well as Jim Savvy.
