The Reincarnation of Cassius Khumalo

By Coco

Recurrences of the soul to experience itself more is the gist of what reincarnation is, however the Nubian King has reached his final birth and what better way to solidify his position in history than through art?

The body of work that has been presented at The 13th Floor Gallery (95 Commissioner street) from the 9th of July to 1st of August, could be likened to the hieroglyphic inscriptions that the high priest Manetho had written on the temples and tombs of Egypt. The dawn of Black Renaissance has come and Pan-Africans or Kemets sought to re-build the Nubian society that once was. With that being said it is without doubt that art, culture and heritage not withstanding literature are but few means to recreate the neo society in the image of Modern Gods.

Anthropology 102 is an embodiment of African history foretold through symbolism. The core message of it is how the Africans were once a prosperous, peaceful and at very most 'Glorious' people. Furthermore it speaks in-depth of the beauty of Africa as well as the brutally of its history - with one piece of work depicting a slave ship with an Egyptian God on it - the irony in that hit home. Through this we get to understand the evolution and self-awareness of an African who has used his artistic inheritance, to recreate fragments of the past equipped with knowledge to further him/herself through Art.

Baffled by the vision of everything I felt I should share this bit of information and let history handle the rest.
